Our Post

A Legacy of Service in Encinitas

Established in 1931, American Legion Post 416 has stood as a pillar of the Encinitas community for over 90 years, providing a gathering place for veterans, active duty service members, and community members alike.

San Diego Post 416 was originally located in Encinitas. The main building, which is the structure we see today, was moved from Camp Kearny (now Kearny Mesa) in 1930. The iconic bar area, which was added in the 1940s, came from Camp Callan, which is now part of UC San Diego. Our historic building, located on F Street in downtown Encinitas, has been a landmark for generations.

Today, our Post is home to over 400 members who continue the tradition of service, camaraderie, and community support that has defined the American Legion since its founding in 1919.
